Why choose EMS

Key Advantages for International Students

EMS combines three decades of experience, a genuinely multicultural student community, and a unique built-in university pathway service — making it one of the most complete language-to-university solutions in Malaysia.

University Admission Consultancy — Built In & Free

EMS offers a free University Admission Consultancy service to all students — covering both Malaysian and international universities. This is rare among language centres and makes EMS the ideal single destination for students who want to improve their English and then proceed directly to a degree — with no separate consultancy cost or additional agency.

Founded 1996 — Nearly 30 Years of Experience

EMS (English Made Simple) was established in 1996 — making it one of the longest-running English language centres in Kuala Lumpur. Its nearly three decades of experience serving international students from over 30 nationalities gives it a depth of institutional knowledge that newer centres cannot match.

Starter Level — Complete Beginners Welcome

EMS offers a dedicated Starter level for students who are completely new to English — including those with no prior exposure to the language. This is explicitly confirmed on EMS's official website and makes EMS uniquely accessible to Arab students from non-English educational backgrounds.

Airport Pickup & Full Arrival Support

EMS provides an airport pickup service for all new students — an EMS representative meets students at KLIA and assists with immigration clearance. This is particularly valuable for Arab students arriving in Malaysia for the first time, removing the stress and confusion of navigating arrival alone.

Monthly "Cool Fridays" Social Programme

EMS runs a monthly social activities programme — "Cool Fridays" — which includes movie sessions with teachers, paintball day trips, and city exploration events in and around Kuala Lumpur. These activities are designed to practise English in real-world social settings while building friendships across 30+ nationalities.

PTE Academic Preparation — Unique Offering

In addition to IELTS, EMS is one of the few KL language centres offering dedicated preparation for the Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) — recognised by thousands of universities and governments worldwide including in Australia, UK, and Canada. Students who prefer PTE over IELTS have a dedicated preparation track at EMS.

Frequently asked questions

Common Questions About Studying at EMS

Can I start at EMS with zero English knowledge?+
Yes — EMS explicitly welcomes students whose English skills are "very low or almost non-existent." EMS has a dedicated Starter level for students who are completely new to the language. All new students sit a free placement test on their first day to determine the correct starting level. EMS advisors can assist and translate if needed during initial registration and orientation.
Does EMS help with student visas?+
EMS supplies all documentation needed to support your student visa application — including the acceptance letter. Note that EMS cannot apply for visas on behalf of students, but provides all the required paperwork. For IELTS preparation, EMS recommends a 4-month study period with a 6-month visa. A letter of acceptance is NOT required at the point of entry into Malaysia, only for the visa application beforehand. We assist you with the full visa preparation process.
Does EMS offer university admission support?+
Yes — EMS has a dedicated University Admission Consultancy service available free to all students. This covers both Malaysian and international university applications, helping students transition from English study directly into a degree programme. Combined with our free university application support at uni-counsel.com, EMS students have two layers of professional guidance for their university pathway at no additional cost.
Does EMS require full payment upfront?+
Yes. EMS requires full advance payment before you start your course — monthly payment plans are not available. This should be factored into your financial planning before applying. The international student fee (RM 100–1,000 depending on duration) is compulsory and is charged in addition to your tuition fee. Payment can be made by bank transfer before arrival.
What is PTE Academic and is it better than IELTS?+
PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic is a computer-based English proficiency test accepted by thousands of universities and governments worldwide — especially popular for Australia, UK, and Canada. Unlike IELTS (which uses a human examiner for the speaking test), PTE is fully computer-scored, with results typically available within 5 business days. Whether PTE or IELTS is better depends on your learning style and target university requirements — we advise on this for free. EMS is one of the few KL language centres offering dedicated PTE preparation.
Can I study at EMS and then apply to a Malaysian university?+
Yes — this is the EMS pathway many Arab students take. Study IGE at EMS to build your English from Starter through to Advanced, add IELTS or PTE preparation, achieve your target score, and then apply to a Malaysian university. EMS provides internal university consultancy, and we at uni-counsel.com handle the full application and EMGS student visa process for your degree programme. Contact us from the start to plan both your language and university journey together.
