Why choose MMU

Key Advantages for International Students

MMU was Malaysia's first private technology university, established in 1999. Here's why it consistently attracts students from over 40 countries.

Technology-Focused Campus

Located in Cyberjaya — Malaysia's premier tech hub — giving you direct access to internships at Intel, Dell, Microsoft, Ericsson and other multinationals headquartered nearby.

Malaysia's #1 in Creative Multimedia

MMU's Faculty of Creative Multimedia is widely regarded as the best multimedia and animation programme in Malaysia. Graduates work at global studios, game developers, and digital agencies.

Strong Industry Connections

Structured internship placements and industry advisory boards connect you with top employers. MMU's Cyberjaya location gives you a real edge in the job market.

Cutting-Edge AI & Engineering

The Faculty of AI and Engineering offers Malaysia's most current programmes in robotics, applied AI, and electronics — fully aligned with the MyDIGITAL Blueprint.

Competitive Fees vs Peer Universities

MMU's Bachelor's fees (RM 67,250–94,500) are roughly 30–40% less than APU or Taylor's for equivalent programmes.

Flexible Distance Learning (ODL)

The ODL Bachelor of Management lets working professionals complete a Malaysian degree over 5 years from anywhere — at only RM 37,750 total.

Frequently asked questions

Common Questions About Studying at MMU

What is the minimum English requirement to enter MMU? +
MMU generally requires IELTS 5.5 for most degree programmes and IELTS 6.0 for postgraduate. MMU also offers an English Language Enhancement Programme (ELEP) for students who don't yet meet the requirement. Contact us — we'll check your eligibility for free.
Can I work part-time while studying at MMU? +
Yes. International students in Malaysia can work up to 20 hours per week during semester breaks and public holidays, and in approved on-campus or hospitality roles during term time. Confirm current immigration rules before accepting any employment.
Does MMU accept a general high school certificate for direct admission to a bachelor's degree? +
This depends on the education system in your country. Generally, graduates with a general high school certificate are advised to enroll in a foundation (pre-university) program first (1 year, RM 12,000), then proceed directly to the bachelor's degree. Contact us and send your documents—we'll assess them and determine the most suitable entry point for you for free.
What is the EMGS fee and how is it different from the MMU registration fee? +
EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) is the government agency that processes student visa applications. The EMGS fee (RM 3,500 on-campus / RM 500 ODL) goes to EMGS — not MMU — and covers your Visa Approval Letter, student pass, and insurance. The MMU registration fee (RM 2,000) is a university administrative charge. Both are paid together along with the RM 1,500 deposit, totalling RM 7,000.
Is MMU's degree recognised internationally? +
Yes. MMU is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and its degrees are recognised across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, UK (via Ecctis/NARIC), and Australia. Engineering degrees are accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and recognised under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement.
How long does the student visa take? +
The EMGS process typically takes 4–8 weeks. You must receive your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) before travelling to Malaysia — you cannot convert a tourist visa to a student pass. We track your EMGS status and notify you as soon as your VAL is ready.
